GUELPH, ON—June 1, 2022Nominations are open for LifeLearn Animal Health’s new LifeLearn Vet Tech of the Year Award, created in celebration and appreciation of Veterinary Technicians everywhere for all they do for veterinary teams, pets, and pet parents.

In a recent Facebook post, Pacific Pet Hospital captured why all Veterinary Technicians qualify as superheroes:

“If human health care has nurses, anesthesiologists, radiation technologists, laboratory technologists, respiratory therapists, dieticians, physiotherapists, in veterinary medicine we have all of those in one—Veterinary Technicians.”

“Given everything that Vet Techs manage and contribute each day to veterinary practices and the well-being of pets and pet parents,” says Dr. Mark Stephenson, LifeLearn’s Chief Veterinary Officer, “LifeLearn has proudly created the LifeLearn Vet Tech of the Year Award to formally recognize outstanding individuals,” adding, “and we know it’s going to be a tough choice.”

Even at the best of times, vet techs work hard as dedicated, indispensable members of veterinary teams. “When you add on restrictions, curbside service, safety protocols, long stressful hours, difficulties dealing with pet owners, and all the other often-daunting pandemic challenges to which vet techs heroically rose,” says Dr. Stephenson, “the word outstanding really describes all vet techs.”
