About Us

Lifelearn , founded in 1993, evolved from the Veterinary Continuing Education program of the Ontario Veterinary College. Lifelearn Inc. is a privately held company, with the University of Guelph owning approximately 20 percent of the shares.

The company's focus is the production and marketing of veterinary continuing education and reference programs in electronic interactive multimedia format. Lifelearn multimedia product lines include:

  1. ReferenCE Programs™ - professional veterinary continuing education on CD-ROM
  2. Veterinary Team Training™ - continuing education programs on CD-ROM for the veterinary paraprofessional
  3. Client Handouts - customizable client information in editable electronic format for small animal practice

Lifelearn also publishes select practical veterinary manuals, distributes veterinary texts, and coordinates premium quality continuing education seminars with extensive wet-lab components.

Most recently, Lifelearn launched WebDVM, a web site design, hosting and content maintenance service for veterinary practices. Using a robust relational database and content management system, Lifelearn-powered web sites allow practices to publish their own content on the fly. Lifelearn offers many client education features as "add-ons" to existing practice web sites whether they are WebDVM sites or other. Lifelearn is a preferred provider of websites for the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association.

Lifelearn has an excellent track record of developing quality programs that have received academic recognition. For example, the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education gave their first continuing education accreditation of interactive multimedia to Lifelearn's ReferenCE Programs. Lifelearn programs are used in many veterinary and technical colleges around the world. International recognition has also been achieved with Gold Awards for technical and educational excellence in 1995 and 1996 from the International Compact Disc Interactive Association.

Lifelearn currently boasts a list of over 75 electronic products, most of which are highly interactive multimedia CD-ROM programs. In addition, Lifelearn has been contracted to produce CD-ROM and web-based programs by multinational corporations in the veterinary pharmaceutical and pet food industries. Clients include Alpharma, Bayer, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, FoodSafety Inc., Friskies (Nestle Purina), Hills, Iams, Merial, Novartis, Pfizer, Teton New Media, and Waltham.
