Transportation: Attendees may choose to fly to Pearson International Airport, Toronto (45 minutes from Guelph) and drive to Guelph via car or limousine service (Red Car - 519-824-9344).

CE Accreditation: Certificate awarded from the Ontario Veterinary College for 14 hours of CE credit.

Cancellation Policy:
90% refund will be issued for cancellations up to 60 days prior. No refunds will be issued after that date except under special circumstances, when the maximum refund is 50%. Lifelearn reserves the right to cancel the course, in which case a full course refund only will be paid.

Course Objectives:

This two day ophthalmic surgery course will include a series of lectures and laboratories to provide participants with a range of skills to diagnose and treat common external eye diseases:

• The morning lectures will focus on the diagnosis and surgical treatment of common external eye disease involving the eyelids, third eyelid, cornea and nasolacrimal system. Topics will also cover preparation of the eye for surgery, choices of instruments and sutures.
• During the afternoon laboratory, participants will work on their own under the guidance of a board certified ophthalmologist, resident and technician. Each participant will have the opportunity to perform all the procedures on a cadaver. These include subconjunctival injections, aqueocentesis, flushing and cannulation of the nasolacrimal system, entropion correction, replacement of a prolapsed third gland of the third eyelid, punctuate or grid keratotomy for non-healing ulcers, placing a conjunctival pedicle flap for deep corneal ulcers, suturing of corneal lacerations and performing a keratectomy for removal of a corneal sequestrum. Each laboratory will finish with a review and a question and answer session.

The course includes 6 hours of lecture and 8 hours of surgical laboratory time.
