This "one-day" course will include a series of lectures and a laboratory.

Luxation of the patella may be of congenital, developmental or traumatic origin and can occur as a primary condition or secondary to other orthopaedic defects. Modeled after our highly successful cruciate seminars and wet lab, the morning lectures for this course will give participants a solid grounding in the various etiologies, biomechanics, repair options, pit-falls and safety nets for the correction of patellar luxation. Following the lunch break and informal discussions, the hands-on laboratory will allow practice of various repair techniques applicable to your practice environment.

  • During the laboratory, participants will work in groups of three under the guidance of board certified surgeons and surgery residents. Each participant will have the opportunity to perform the procedure on a cadaver and to assist in a second surgery.

The laboratory will be followed by a closing session to entertain any questions that you may have regarding patellar luxation surgery.
