Vaccination Basics provides a basic understanding of the principles of immunity and vaccination, as well as a description of the various canine and feline diseases for which vaccines are available. The vaccination categories (core, non-core, not recommended) are in accordance with the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP).

    Veterinary team members will learn:
  • The definition of immunity
  • The roles that antigens, antibodies, B-cells, T-cells and plasma cells play in an immune response
  • Why vaccinations are important for maintaining a healthy immune system
  • The characteristics of various canine and feline diseases for which vaccines are available, including signs, symptoms and transmission potential
  • To effectively answer common client questions about vaccinations
